The nose cannot be hidden under the clothes or repaired by its own forces, so surgical intervention is almost the only way to a harmonious face. Rhinoplasty or nose plastic can correct shape and size, as well as respiratory dysfunction. Too big or too long a nose, with a lump or curved shape - all these and other flaws make you uncomfortable.

Statement to the operation

  • Irregular form
  • Post-traumatic defects
  • Need to improve respiratory systems.

The surgery is performed from the age of 17, because the nose tissue is finally formed by this age.

Kinds of rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty can be either complete or partial when individual parts are corrected: nose wings, tip, nose or nostril.

In order to determine whether the new nose will be in harmony with your features, computer simulations are carried out. This stage of preparation for surgery is very important, it is necessary to reach full agreement and understanding between the surgeon and the patient, to hear the wishes of the patient and to relate them to the possibilities of plastic surgery. In many ways this ensures the success of rhinoplasty. Preparation for each operation is always carried out very carefully, X-rays, photographs of the patient are studied, not only the nose and individual features of the person, but even the proportions of the body are taken into account.

Mode of operation

Rhinoplasty can be performed with open and closed access, each of which has its own advantages.

Closed nose plastic provides a solution to almost all aesthetic problems, as well as the location of the scars inside the nose, but limits the surgical vision.

Open access increases vision and allows for more surgery, but adds one additional suture to the septum between the nostrils. The scar eventually tightens and becomes invisible, but the recovery period after the open nose plastic lasts longer.

The choice of access is made by the surgeon depending on the desired result and the problems to be solved by the operation.

How is the rhinoplasty operation conducted
During the rhinoplasty, the bones of the nose are disconnected and fixed in a new position, and excess cartilaginous tissue is eliminated and a new shape is simulated from the rest. When the rhinoplasty is carried out with open access, the seams are removed after 2-3 days, after which special glues are placed in their place to make the scar as invisible as possible. The closed rhinoplasty is produced by cutting the inside of the nose. The seams are not visible and eventually dissipate. Nose plastics are often carried out using endoscopic techniques, allowing the operation to be performed through minimal cuts. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and lasts from half an hour to two hours, after which a locking plaster patch is applied, which must be worn for 10 days. Also in the nasal passages, tampons are installed for 1-2 days, and during this time it is necessary to breathe mouth.

In the first days after the operation, it is better to keep the bed rest, as well as to keep the head position, it should be raised high. For two weeks, the nose retains some swelling, and the final result of the plastic can be estimated 4-6 months after the operation. Rhinoplasty is not always medically required, so a plastic surgeon must not only improve the shape of the nose but also preserve the normal functioning of the respiratory system. This is ensured by a rich experience of operations and a combination of a variety of techniques.
